On Saturday, April 11th from 10:00am – 4:00pm, Books by the Busload is bringing free books to Omaha families! For this event, Metropolitan Community College, AIT Worldwide Logistics, Cargo Zone, Metro transit, AmeriCorps, Lutheran Family Services, and the Omaha Public Library are driving forward literacy by giving away 20,000 free, new books at three Omaha locations.

This year the buses will be at Planet Fitness in North Omaha, the Salvation Army Kroc Center in South Omaha, and Westroads Mall in West Omaha. The public is invited to browse the books in a library-like setting on the Metro buses and take home titles for free. Fiction and nonfiction books are available for all ages and reading levels. Attached is a flyer of the event that can be printed and shared as you wish. If you would like hard copies of the flyers I would be more than willing to bring some to your specific location. Just let me know and I’ll be there!

Also, they have created a book request form that organizations can fill out if they are interested in sending a representative to pick up more than 5 books for their organization/cause. Here is the link: https://orgsync.com/98194/forms/138588. Please share this form with whoever you feel would be appropriate. We want to get these books into the hands of those that need them and definitely don’t want any books left at the end of the day!
